With decades of advertising agency and market research experience, Kim provides strategic planning, market research and tactical marcom solutions to build and sustain solid brands. With a health care advertising agency background, Kim provides everything from strategic planning to market research to tactical solutions.

Kim was previously a partner with Dorland Global, where he was responsible for 40% of the agency billings. At Dorland, Kim successfully launched new categories, created recognizable healthcare brands and introduced innovative products to U.S. and global markets. His clients included VISX, Novartis, Biocompatibles, Zeiss, Bausch and Lomb, Pharmacia, BMS, and Johnson & Johnson.  He was also the Director of Marketing at Neuronetics, makers of the NeuroStar TMS Therapy® Non-invasive treatment for depression.

At CoActive, Kim's passion is to work one-on-one with a dedicated client base to spearhead 'right-brain' market research projects, oversee brand development and implement tactical marcom campaigns. Kim is the recipient of the prestigious ADDY award for a ground-breaking professional medical education program on behalf of Novartis.

She has launched and supported numerous ophthalmic, neurologic, cardiac, oncological, orthopaedic, dermatological and endocrinological treatments, as well as medical devices, lasers, drug delivery systems, gene sequencing instruments, diagnostics and laboratory products.  In addition, Carmen has promoted award-winning disease awareness initiatives by bridging the work of worldwide advocacy organizations, research institutions and pharmaceutical companies.

Prior to starting CoActive in 2001, which represented Carl Zeiss Meditec, the International Modulation Society, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, San Francisco General Hospital and many other public and private healthcare companies, Carmen held senior positions at both Dorland Global and MCS Public Relations.  

Carmen is a communications advisor to BIO, the world’s largest biotechnology organization and she has been a communications coach for Astia, a venture organization committed to high-potential, high-growth women-led start-ups at all stages.  She is a member the San Francisco Publicity Club, Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and Ophthalmic Women’s Leaders (OWL) and she has been a featured speaker for medical device industry organizations worldwide.  Under her leadership, CoActive has been the recipient of several Anvil awards from the PRSA for excellence in public relations, media relations and overall communications campaigns.

Rick Roose

Rick has produced results-oriented strategic communications plans for pharmaceutical, biotech and diagnostics companies for nearly 30 years. Prior to joining CoActive, Rick served as head of Global Communications for Roche Molecular Diagnostics, where his responsibilities included developing marketing communications plans for RMD’s global products, corporate, executive and internal communications and change management communications. Rick has managed both the agency and corporate communications staff for some of the most successful companies in healthcare including Abbott, Eli Lilly and Aventis.

Rick’s agency experience includes Grey Communications Inc (GCI), Noonan Russo and WeissComm (now WCG), through which he served clients including Abgenix, ALZA, Chiron, Connetics, Deltagen, Forest, Genentech, Gen-Probe, GeneSoft, Given Imaging, Ischemia Research and Education Foundation, J&J, Nuvelo, PDL, Roche Molecular Diagnostics, Roche Pharma, Santen, Scios and Tercica.
