“CoActive is an integral extension of our marketing team. In just 24 months they helped generate 500,000 individual hits to our website from more than 100 countries. CoActive’s persistent outreach to the press is getting SOLX not only talked about, but becoming recognized as an innovator in today’s treatment of glaucoma.”
Doug Adams, President & CEO of SOLX
History: After nearly five years of research and development at Boston University’s Photonics Center, SOLX was ready to launch the SOLX Glaucoma Treatment System internationally. Consisting of a laser and a tiny, 24-karat gold micro-shunt that can be easily implanted in the eye, this minimally-invasive system is the newest glaucoma intervention introduced to the ophthalmic industry in more than thirty years.
Challenge: Since the unique system rivaled many widely accepted methods of glaucoma treatment, establishing credibility with physicians and journalists was an anticipated obstacle. How could a small company with a groundbreaking idea change conventional wisdom that glaucoma is best treated with drugs and surgery?
Solution: CoActive worked with the SOLX management team, engineers and physicians to define an entirely new treatment category in terms that journalists and physicians could understand. Leveraging key messages, pilot study data and illustrations, CoActive worked to position the DeepLight System not as a competitor to conventional drug therapy, but as a set of treatment options that physicians can use in conjunction with pharmaceuticals to achieve the best results for glaucoma patients.
Results: Throughout the past three years, CoActive’s efforts have garnered more than 50 feature news stories in industry trade publications and ongoing coverage in medical device and healthcare analyst reports. With growing product distribution channels and revenue being generated from international sales, SOLX is gaining significant ground in key countries outside the US. With Phase III US FDA clinical studies underway, CoActive continues to promote interim study results, patient enrollment milestones and other developments to demonstrate the company’s accomplishments.
