“CoActive has played an important role in helping us to define our corporate identity and position ourselves for a successful product launch. We have been impressed with their ability to work within the boundaries defined by the science to help create text accurately describing our products and strategies.”
Warren Hoeffler, President & CEO, Xgene Corporation
History: Almost by accident, Warren Hoeffler, Clinical Professor at Stanford Medical School’s Department of Dermatology, discovered a new method of growing bio-engineered skin while conducting a routine experiment. Realizing the promise that bio-engineered skin could one day offer burn victims and the viability for an alternative to expensive and controversial animal testing, Dr. Hoeffler founded Xgene Corporation in 1998.
Challenge: As a virtually unknown start-up, Xgene needed to gain market awareness in order to attract commercialization partners, customers and investors.
Solution: CoActive developed Xgene’s first message platform, press kit and product press release for AccuSkin™ – a unique cosmetic and toxicology testing assay. In addition, CoActive initiated a media relations campaign targeting health and business reporters in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Results: CoActive secured several feature articles for Xgene in local newspapers, including San Mateo County Times and Silicon Valley Biz Ink. This increased exposure helped Xgene leverage a leading commercialization partner and gain valuable recognition in the San Francisco Bay Area – the nation’s leading biotech community.
